Participants Facilitators and Experts

Emilia Ciurchea is a dreamer who believes that a group of people who have the same passions and aspirations for their community can achieve great things when they start doing something!:)

She has two BAs, one in Cultural Studies and the second in Special Education, and worked in education for five years (three years in general education and two years in special education as an autism specialist). She has just received her MA in Psychotherapy and is also a children and youth program coordinator in her hometown, Făgăraș.

She is Operations Manager at the Făgăraș County Community Foundation, where she develops and helps implement programs and funds that can generate change in her community.

Working with the community foundation, she helps inspire and support local initiatives and brings together people and organizations that have the will and capacity to bring about changes for the better in her local community.

She is the mother of a three-year-old girl named Tess, with whom she loves to play and invent games. She also loves to spend time with her husband and daughter, most recently riding bikes.:)

Emilia is very excited about the opportunity she has been offered to join the 2017-2018 ViabilityNet team!

About my project

Făgăraș County Abroad is a project based on a fundamental need shared by most members of the diaspora: to be connected and re-connected to the community which they left and where a part of their family typically lives. International experience shows that despite geographical distance, the diaspora can play an active role in the development of its community.

Făgăraș County Abroad is an initiative of re-connecting the Romanian diaspora around the world to their home communities and involving them in those communities, with the main goal of achieving meaningful capacity building and development in the Tara Fagarasului area.

The Făgăraș County Community Foundation inspires and supports local initiatives, mobilizes resources and brings together people and organizations that have the will and capacity to contribute in the long run to the development of generous, responsible and trustworthy communities.
