On Monday, September 13, Via Foundation held a charity dinner focused on climate change in the Czech landscape. Our guests had the opportunity to talk with Czech Television science editor Daniel Stach, leading biodiversity and ecology expert Professor David Storch, and Klára Kabátová, founder of the Mnichovska Landscape Association about what individuals and communities can do to protect our landscape.

In recent years, we have witnessed an increasing number of natural disasters: drought, torrential rains and floods, extreme temperatures and even a devastating tornado. We may feel that there isn’t much we can do on an individual or community level to mitigate the impacts of these extremes. Each of the guests offered useful tips on how to achieve collective meaningful change through small positive changes in the landscape. Creating a diverse mosaic of small measures that return water to the landscape and increase biodiversity can be an effective approach.

The event was held in the recently reopened Šlechtova restaurant in the Stromovka park in Prague. Our guests were welcomed by the councilor of the capital city of Prague, Mrs. Hana Třeštíková. We thank the city for providing this beautiful space. During the evening, “tornado wine” was served, which was bought by the RSBC Group from Moravian winemakers affected by the tornado which struck South Moravia in June.
