A huge wave of solidarity swept through the Czech Republic in the spring – and it’s still with us. We would like to thank everyone who gave during the Czech Philharmonic concert collection to help hospitals fighting coronavirus.
Thanks to gifts sent by thousands of people, hospitals were able to quickly prepare for the crush of coronavirus patients in the spring. And hospitals are also better equipped to address patient needs today, as the number of Covid-19 cases rises once again. More than 20,000 generous donors took part in the collection, together giving CZK 7.5 million ($333,000).
Five hospitals received CZK 1,430,000 each from the collection. Three hospitals in Prague and two in Brno used this funding to buy the extraordinary medical materials and equipment they needed. The Na Homolce Hospital in Prague and the Brno University Hospital were able to supply their staff with sufficient protective gear and tests. The other three hospitals – St. Anna University Hospital in Brno, Motol Teaching Hospital and Na Bulovka Hospital – used the funding to buy oxygenation devices, ventilators, vital signs monitors and operating room technology and to remodel rooms to better protect patients and staff.
