20th Anniversary Via Bona Philanthropy Awards

We kicked off our special 20th Anniversary Via Bona Philanthropy Awards program in April. This year’s Via Bona Awards are exceptional as a symbolic celebration of twenty years of philanthropy development in the Czech Republic.

The awards jury has selected 20 of the 123 philanthropists recognized by the awards since 1997 for their long-term philanthropic efforts. You can read about them and vote for your favorites at www.cenaviabona.cz (in Czech).

At this special 20th anniversary awards ceremony, we will take a retrospective look at the most memorable examples of private and corporate giving recognized by the Awards since their inception and we will celebrate 20 years of raising awareness about philanthropy. The evening will be a journey through the history of philanthropy in the Czech Republic since the Velvet Revolution, as well as a look ahead to the future of philanthropy.

The evening awards ceremony will be accompanied by a panel discussion on “The Future of Philanthropy” and an exhibition showcasing Via Bona award winners from 1998 – 2016.

The Via Bona Philanthropy Awards publicly recognize individuals as well as companies for outstanding charitable efforts in the Czech Republic. Through the awards, we highlight best practices in philanthropy, present new philanthropic trends and inspire current as well as prospective donors. The awards acknowledge and publicly thank individuals and companies who selflessly give their time, energy, expertise and money to help others. We are honored to hold the ceremony under the auspices of the Embassy of the United States once again, following on the many years of cooperation and partnership between Via Foundation and the U.S. Embassy.
